A new circuit based in Rwanda will join the calendar in the early 2030s on a long-term agreement

Formula 1 have announced that we will be returning to Africa for the first time since 1993 with a Grand Prix in Bugesera, Rwanda.
The African Grand Prix, presented by Visit Rwanda, will join the calendar in the early 2030s after agreeing on a 10-year deal to host Formula 1.
The race will take place on a new purpose-built circuit in Bugesera, Rwanda, around 40 kilometres south of Kigali and adjacent to the new Kigali International Airport.
Our Formula 1 team last raced in Africa in 1993, at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in South Africa. The circuit hosted Grands Prix between 1965 and 1986, and again in 1992 and 1993. McLaren won twice during that period, with Denny Hulme finishing first in 1972, and Niki Lauda taking to the top step in 1984.
The sport also raced on the Ain-Diab Circuit in Morocco in 1958, and on the Prince George Circuit in East London, South Africa, in 1962, 1963 and 1965, all before we made our debut.
F1 says that the circuit will use the area's elevation changes to create a unique, challenging racing experience while delivering exceptional viewing opportunities for fans.
