Reigning Formula 1 World Champion Lando Norris made a spectacular return to the Goodwood Estate on Saturday, celebrating his historic 2025 title in front of thousands of passionate fans. Marking McLaren’s double-Championship success, Lando delighted the crowd with a celebratory drive up the iconic hill climb in the team’s 2023 challenger, the MCL60.

Bringing the car to a dramatic halt outside Goodwood House to a standing ovation, Lando then joined McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team Principal Andrea Stella and the Duke of Richmond on the historic Goodwood balcony. The moment provided a powerful opportunity to thank the fans firsthand for their unwavering support throughout last year's monumental, title-winning campaign.

This celebration follows Lando getting behind the wheel of McLaren Racing’s WEC Hypercar, the MCL-HY, which will challenge in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2027, as part of its global public debut on Friday. The car was diverted from its development programme specifically to be shown to fans for the first time globally at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The celebration of the team's recent success ran alongside a spectacular showcase of McLaren's rich racing heritage. Throughout the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, fans have been treated to the sights and sounds of iconic machinery tackling the hill, including the ultra-rare Lamborghini V12-powered MP4/8B test car, and James Hunt’s legendary 1976 title-winning M23, marking the 50th anniversary of his historic World Championship victory.

Lando Norris, Driver, McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team, said:

“To be back at Goodwood as World Champion, celebrating alongside Andrea and our incredible fans, is a moment I’ll never forget. Driving a McLaren up the hill is always special feeling, but seeing the fans from the balcony today was incredible. This double Championship belongs to the entire team and every single fan who supported us on this journey. Thank you for making today so unforgettable, and also to The Duke, for making this moment possible.”
