2024 Formula 1 calendar announced
The new-look schedule features a record-breaking 24 races
Grab next year’s planner and make sure your passports are up to date, as the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship calendar has been released.
The 2024 calendar features a record-breaking 24 races, including the long-awaited return of the Chinese Grand Prix, which is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary, and the second Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The order of the races has undergone a small revamp as F1 looks to “reduce logistical burdens” and make the season “more sustainable.” This includes new positions in the calendar for Japan, Azerbaijan and Qatar.
The opening two grands prix of the season will take place on a Saturday in order to accommodate Ramadan. Bahrain will host the the season opener on 2 March, followed by the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix a week later on 9 March. There will then be a short gap as we travel to Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix on 24 March.
Japan will now host the fourth round of the year on 7 April, being brought forward from its usual October spot. The Chinese Grand Prix will return on 21 April, with the Miami Grand Prix taking place on 5 May.
We’ll then enter the European leg of the season with the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on 19 May and the Monaco Grand Prix on 26 May. There will be a brief detour from Europe to Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix on 9 June, ahead of the season’s first triple-header.
Rounds 10, 11 and 12 will take place in quick succession. Barcelona will host the Spanish Grand Prix on 23 June, followed by the Austrian Grand Prix on 30 June and our home race, the British Grand Prix, on 7 July.
We’ll remain in Europe for the two rounds prior to the summer break, with the Hungarian Grand Prix on 21 July and the Belgian Grand Prix a week later on 28 July.
Our summer holidays will be brought to an end with a trip to the Netherlands, as Zandvoort hosts the 15th round of the season on 25 August, ahead of the Italian Grand Prix in Monza on 1 September. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will now run on 15 September, followed by the Singapore Grand Prix on 22 September.
There will then be a short three-weekend break in the calendar before two triple headers to close out the season. The first will begin in Austin with the US Grand Prix on 20 October, followed by the Mexico City Grand Prix on 27 October and the Sao Paulo Grand Prix on 3 November.
The season will come to a close with another triple header, starting with the Las Vegas Grand Prix on 23 November, which will be the final Saturday race of the season. The Qatar Grand Prix will take place a week later on 1 December before the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on 8 December.
