Preview: The 2025 United States Grand Prix – presented by OKX

"It’s amazing to be heading to Austin as Constructors’ Champions!"

OKX

Just under two weeks on from clinching a historic 10th Constructors’ Championship, we’re back at track, full focus on fighting for victory at all six of the final rounds as we eye a Drivers’ and Constructors’ title double.

CEO Zak Brown and Team Principal Andrea Stella joined Lando and Oscar at the factory on Thursday last week, where they hosted an all-team celebration and thanked the team for their efforts so far.

Attention has now switched back to the races, and we’ve got the thoughts of Andrea, Lando, and Oscar ahead of this weekend’s US Grand Prix. We’ve also got our usual guide to the circuit, another quiz question, and an outfit suggestion for Austin.

“It’s amazing to be heading to Austin as Constructors’ Champions! But we still have six races left and a lot of important points up for grabs as we go for the Drivers’ Championship.

“The United States Grand Prix is always a fun one, especially as it’s a Sprint weekend. The fans always bring an incredible vibe, and I really enjoy driving around COTA. It’s fast with some good opportunities to overtake. I’m excited to get going again.”

Oscar quote banner

“I’m really looking forward to taking on the Circuit of the Americas, especially with this being a Sprint weekend. I’m focused totally on performance and extracting the maximum from both races.

“The track has some cool sections, in particular the high-speed esses, and the layout allows for some good racing. I always enjoy it there and this weekend should be fun too.”

Andrea Stella

“We go into the United States Grand Prix as the 2025 Constructors’ Champions, which is something we are very proud of. This weekend is also a Sprint event, giving both our drivers good opportunities to continue scoring more important points. It is one of the drivers’ favourite circuits to race at, so we look forward to providing them with the conditions to have a strong race weekend.

“I’m extremely proud of the entire team who have worked hard to get us to this point but we still have a lot more to achieve this year.”

Why we love the US Grand Prix

Despite only being on the calendar since 2012, the Circuit of the Americas has become a real fan favourite. Fans flock to the track from all corners of the US and create a party-like atmosphere. While there are now three amazing races in America, it’s hard to beat Austin, where the action off the track is as exciting as on it.

Having long since adopted the motto ‘Keep Austin Weird,’ the city provides a unique setting in which to race. It offers an eclectic mix of live music, rich culture, barbecuing, and even bats - at the Congress Avenue Bridge, you can witness the nightly flight of the 1.5 million bats that live there.

Famous for its “Cowboy Core” culture, you can get a truly authentic experience in Austin. Start off at Allens Boots and pick up a pair of typical Texan cowboy boots, and then dive into the history at the Bullock Texas State History Museum, before trying out horseback riding, rodeo events, or country and western music and dancing.

It’s also a city that loves sport. COTA hosts motorsport events year-round, but there is also a huge following for the city’s NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys, its MLS side, Austin FC, and its MLB team, the Texas Rangers, to name just a few.

What are the challenges?

Taking inspiration from Silverstone, Suzuka, and Hockenheim, it’s no surprise that COTA is as popular as it is challenging.

But while many of the corners will feel familiar, its most famous turn is 100% original. Featuring a view of Downtown Austin in the distance, Turn 1 is the highest point of the circuit, coming off the back of a 133-foot climb uphill after the start/finish straight. Cars are given a wide berth, allowing them to brake late and choose how they want to take the corner, which promotes overtaking. However, with a steep downhill descent immediately following the corner, drivers go in a little blind, making it easy to make a mistake.

Silverstone and Suzuka were both sampled for the run through Turns 3 to 6, which are akin to the British circuit’s Maggotts/Becketts complex and the Japanese track’s S Curves. Fans may also recognise Turns 12 to 15, which are similar to Hockenheim's stadium section. Other notable inspirations behind COTA are Istanbul’s Turn 8, Interlagos’s Senna ‘S’ and Österreichring's Sebring-Auspuff Kurve.

The season so far

Last time out, in Singapore, the team claimed its second successive Constructors’ Championship, clinching the 2025 title with third and fourth place finishes from Lando and Oscar, respectively.

Having dedicated some time to celebrating this achievement at our factory last week, focus has now switched back to the season at hand, with the Drivers’ Championship on the line. As it stands, Oscar is first with 336 points and Lando second with 314, 41 points ahead of third place.

Winning the crown with six rounds remaining - the joint-earliest in F1 history - we have a full quarter of the season to run, including three Sprint events, the first of which takes place this weekend.

The fit

Stay weird in Austin with our US Grand Prix range. A burnt orange hoodie, fronted by an Austin motif, and an egret-coloured sweatshirt, featuring a western boot graphic on the rear, go excellently with a pair of classic Levi’s.
