Formula 1 announces United States Grand Prix extension

The iconic Circuit of the Americas is set to remain on the F1 calendar through 2034

Formula 1 has confirmed the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, will remain on the calendar until the 2034 season inclusive.

Since debuting in 2012, the race in Austin has become a real fan favourite on the F1 calendar. Taking design inspiration from legendary circuits like Silverstone, Suzuka, and Hockenheim, the 20-turn, 5.513km circuit features two DRS zones and top speeds of over 300km/h.

Famous for its “Cowboy Core” culture, Austin delivers a truly authentic experience. The city comes alive during race week, with fans travelling from across the country to soak up the electric atmosphere. With live music, world-class barbecuing, and a deep-rooted passion for sport, the United States Grand Prix is memorable on and off track.

While COTA is a year-round hub for motorsport, Austin’s love for sport runs deep with a huge following for the city’s NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys, its MLS side, Austin FC, and its MLB team, the Texas Rangers, to name just a few. Unsurprisingly, the event continues to attract stars from the worlds of music, sport, and film.

McLaren has won the US Grand Prix eight times, including once at COTA, courtesy of Lewis Hamilton, when the race made its debut on the F1 calendar in 2012. The Texan track is the sixth venue to host a US Grand Prix. We’ve also notched a total of 16 podiums at the US Grand Prix, the most recent of which was earned by Lando in 2023.

This announcement follows the success of F1’s growing presence in the U.S., including the Miami Grand Prix, currently the longest-contracted race on the calendar.

The 2025 United States Grand Prix takes place later today, with lights out set for 14:00 local (20:00 BST).
