The Japanese Grand Prix according to social media

Early alarms, crazily creative fans and koalas in Suzuka: Japan's best tweets

If you needed any reminding (which you shouldn’t have done), this weekend in Suzuka further proved that Formula 1’s Japanese fanbase are among the very best supporters in the whole of sport.

We imagine those departing the Suzuka International Racing Circuit on Sunday would have woken up with hoarse voices this morning, given the decibel levels displayed throughout the week and into the weekend.

This, along with the usual unique assortment of crazily creative hats, masks and costumes, ensured that our first visit to Japan in Spring was one to remember off the track, whilst Lando and Oscar produced their fourth double-points finish from four races on track. On the back of another successful weekend, we’ve gone back through social media to find our favourite pieces of Papaya Army content.

Here’s the Japanese Grand Prix according to social media…

Ask us again on when we’re back at the McLaren Technology Centre on Tuesday…

Your wish is our command, @f1mclarenfan!

Us too, @LNFOURS, us too.

That’s a new one, but we like it…

Suzuka just hits different.

Okay, I like it, Picasso. 🖼️

Solid first day, team. Time to build on this.

For science, of course.

Suzuka in Spring, you’ve stolen our hearts (and our Android lock screens).

Happy birthday from everyone at McLaren, our entire fanbase... and, of course, the koalas in Suzuka.

Couldn’t have summed it up better ourselves.

Well worth setting an early alarm for.

Always. A true team player and a class act, our Lando.

After seeing Oscar’s clown cake, we went all out for his birthday this year – we knew had big shoes to fill. 🎂

We agree, even if we do say so ourselves.

Forever grateful for your support, Papaya Army.

As are we, @AndyRobinson100.

In the hunt. Keeps pushing, lads.

The only team to score double points in every race so far this season. 💪

The king of sending it in Suzuka.

Fought right to the end, Osc is a warrior.

Another early start down for those of you in Europe, as we edge ever-closer to the European season in just over a month.

But first, we’ve got the hugely-anticipated return of the Chinese Grand Prix and we could not be more excited. Rest up, Papaya Army, we’ll need you in full voice when we touch down in Shanghai in just under two weeks.
