How to style the new McLAREN Essentials range
We’ve selected our favourite pieces and asked the experts how you should be wearing them
Our car has been given a new look for the new year and now it’s your turn. As well as releasing the livery of our 2024 challenger, we’ve also released a brand-new range of McLaren merchandise.
Our Core Essentials range is the simplest and coolest way to pull off a polished and effortless McLaren fit all year round. There will be plenty of time for more snazzy outfits later on in 2024, but before anything more complicated, you’ll want to get your core wardrobe right.
But that doesn’t mean it’s easy, so we’ve put together a guide of how to best style our essentials range.
Advanced classics
The classic tee is here to stay, but ours has evolved for 2024, gaining a slightly raised, ribbed neckline, complete with papaya piping. These tees look great on their own with a pair of jeans, but if you want to elevate your style, we’d suggest a checked flannel shirt over the top or one of our hoodies wrapped snugly around your waist.
Born to race
Slogan tees were big in the noughties, and after a period in the shadows, they’re making a big comeback. Most of them tend to sit in the motivational or humorous category – as a high-performance sports team, we prefer the former.
The Born to Race tee is our take on this trend. If you want the full noughties look, you’ll want to style it with light blue jeans and some simple white K-Swiss trainers. Or, if you want a slightly more modern version of this look, go with black jeans and a hoodie tied around your shoulder.
Smart casual
This is your best bet if you’re after a smart casual look. Our papaya Speedmark Sweatshirt looks effortless over the top of a button-down white shirt. Complete the look with dark blue jeans or a pair of dark chinos and some brown work boots. Perfect for a day in the office, a coffee with a colleague or Sunday lunch with the family.
Modern essentials
Don’t break what isn’t broken. Hoodies have evolved over the years, and we’ll be releasing some unique designs later on in the year, but everyone needs a versatile core hoodie in their wardrobe as well as something a little bolder.
Our port-coloured Essentials Hoodie is ideal for your Sunday coffee run: Wear a black bomber over the top, a pair of plain black shorts, white socks, and plain K-Swiss trainers.
Totally tonal
Prefer a lighter look? Tonal fits have become increasingly popular (ask Nico Rosberg), but they can be hard to put together and pull off. Normally, a tonal fit would require two shades of the same colour, but our suggestion is to go ever so slightly off the beaten track and pair our smoke green hoodie with a pair of beige shorts. You’ll thank us later.
Cold core fits
The boldest of our essentials hoodies is our papaya-coloured number. The hoodie’s minimalistic design means we wouldn’t call it a statement piece, but its bright colour would require some toning down, in our opinion: White K-Swiss trainers and black cargos is way to go.
