The Japanese Grand Prix according to social media

Helmet-themed hats, home shoeys and mystic fans: Japan's best tweets

Oscar shocked us on Friday when we learned he could speak Japanese, but he surprised no one on Sunday by scoring a podium.

After a weekend of working to Japanese time, we woke up this morning with no idea what time it was, but a massive smile on our faces, ready to return to the factory and get right back to work. Caffeine is good for getting over jet lag, but nothing compares to the natural energy boost that comes with scoring a double podium.

From the Japanese fan's Formula 1-themed hats to your home videos of shoeys in your living rooms, it was you who brought it all to life. Here’s the best of your reaction from a special weekend in Suzuka.

Reason number 99999 why Japanese fans are the greatest on the planet.

Oscar being able to speak Japanese was not on our F1 bingo cards.

Whether it's our Australian fans during any of the European rounds, or our European fans over the flyways, we’re always so grateful that you get up in the middle of the night to spend time with us and watch the sessions.

Mystic @alejandrovigri.

Japan is home to some incredible cuisine, from sushi and sashimi to ramen and Kobe beef, but Oscar and Lando’s cooking was right up there.

Imagine…

No arguments here.

As Saturdays go, this wasn’t the worst.

Whilst we’re excited for every grand prix, Oscar and Lando starting from second and third had us looking like a certain Vince McMahon meme.

What did one helmet say to the other? You stay here, I’ll go on a head.

When Lando and Oscar returned from their second pit-stops in third and fourth, they needed to navigate George Russell, who was attempting a one-stop race. Were we nervous? Naaaah (of course we were).

In the end, it all felt rather calm and collected in comparison to the end of the Singapore Grand Prix, which was anything but.

If the end to the race was calm, the celebrations as Lando and Oscar crossed the line in second and third were anything but.

And that’s before you went truly crazy… We need MORE videos like these ones, please, Papaya Army.

Results like this make the early starts worth it.

Emotions were running wild.

Do you want fries and a drink with that Double McPodium?

Two drivers on the podium but a whole team of hard-working people behind them.

This weekend’s episode of the Max Verstappen podcast was the best of the season.

Oscar’s a little bit special, isn’t he? Time to wrap him up in cotton wool and lock him away somewhere safe in the MTC before we go racing again in just under two weeks' time.

We’ll not stop fighting for it. Bring on the next round of the season in Qatar.

From 17th and 20th in Round 1 to second and third in Suzuka, this season’s been a wild ride, and we’re not done yet. We’re only just getting started.
