The United States Grand Prix according to social media

Cowboy hats, infinity stones and Photoshop skills: United States best tweets

The United States Grand Prix was a rollercoaster ride of emotions as Lando led for half of the race, crossed the line in third and officially finished second.

We went into the weekend needing to gain 12 points on Aston Martin to take fourth in the Constructors’ Championship and came out the other side in fourth with a six-point advantage and another shiny silver trophy to show for our efforts. It was exactly the boost we needed one race into the season's final triple-header, with the Mexico City Grand Prix up next.

Just like the team were told when we started packing away after Sunday’s podium celebrations, ‘don’t go anywhere yet’, we’ve got a little more American goodness for you - it’s time to review the weekend’s best tweets.

Great to see our biggest fans, greasing the wheels to help us in our attempts to blow away the competition. Too many puns in on sentance?

Bouncing into another race weekend like.

Shush, don’t ruin the surprise. Lando and Oscar walking out on stage mid-way through a performance of “Shake it off” would be iconic.

Consistency is key: this was Lando's 13th successive Q3 appearance, and Oscar's eighth in his last nine races.

Some solid points taken from the Sprint, even if the result wasn’t what we’d hoped for. Well done, team.

Howdy, Papaya Army. Happy race day!

100 races down, and we hope he'll be sticking around for many more.

Living the dream, team.

Pre-race rituals complete and we’re ready to go.

A moment to savour.

Hang it in the Louvre.

All of us after those first few laps…

Don’t worry, Oscar's made of stern stuff, he’ll be back stronger in Mexico City.

Victory proved to be one step too far, but what a result for Lando in his 100th race. That's now six podiums from our last four F1 grands prix, our strongest run of form since 2010. Who’d have imagined a few months ago that we’d feel disappointed with P3?

Our amazing teams on the ground and at the McLaren Technology Centre smashed it again.

Six podiums, six infinity stones, just saying.

Valuable points, and one happy boss. Things we love to see.

Wait… What’s this? Some news, you say?

Much better.

We love the dedication (and the lack of patience).

We reckon you owe us a drawing, @aysmilez.

Never back down, never give up… never gonna give you up – those are the lyrics, right?

Too right, we’ll get ‘em next week.

See you in Mexico City, Papaya Army.
