The Hungarian Grand Prix according to social media

A juicy breakfast, a mischievous pen and another podium: Hungary’s best tweets

The last time we scored back-to-back podiums, Sebastian Vettel was Formula 1 World Champion, Olly Murs and Flo Rida were top of the UK music charts with Troublemaker, and Lando and Oscar were in the early stages of their karting careers.

Even on social media, a lot has changed since then… McLaren had only been on Twitter for three years, whilst Instagram had released its incredibly popular Android app in April of that year.

One thing that hasn’t changed is the Hungarian Grand Prix, a beloved staple of the Formula 1 calendar at the Hungaroring since 1986. As the circuit’s most successful constructor, we’re not short of memories in Budapest, but Lando’s podium on Sunday was a welcome addition. Here’s what you made of it on social media…

We started off the weekend with some juicy content. Oscar’s breakfast is bacon us hungry.

The notorious uncapped pen strikes again…

You know it’s hot when Lando isn’t wearing a hoodie.

Normal service was resumed on Sunday…

Now that’s our type of ornament. Petition for @JeffreyNKirk to become the new host of Dream Home Makeover.

Some things are just meant to be.

New fear unlocked: The electricity going down just before an F1 session.

Our drivers delivered a qualifying to be proud of, as Lando and Oscar locked-out the second row, securing the duo successive top-five starts.

One team, one dream.

Hmmm, we wonder why…

A super start saw Oscar and Lando scamper off into second and third, respectively.

Oscar lost net-second to Lando after a pit-stop before taking damage to his floor. This cost him third and fourth, but he battled on to retain fifth in spite of the issue. The dogged performance earned him consecutive top five finishes in F1 for the first time.

On the other side of the garage, Lando brushed off a late attempt from Sergio Pérez to finish second. It was the first time in Lando's career that he'd scored back-to-back podiums and our first for nearly 11 years.

Now that’s how you celebrate, Papaya Army!

… And now it’s our turn!

The universe works in mysterious ways. A certain song by Olly Murs and Flo Rida springs to mind.

Budapest, it was a pleasure.

Same again next week? The Belgian Grand Prix follows this weekend before a well-earned summer break. We'll see you there, team.
