Inevitably, it had to happen. Formula 1 has been dodging the showers all season but sooner or later, we were going to have a wet grand prix and Hockenheim duly obliged.
If there’s such a thing as a good place to have a deluge, then the German Grand Prix is it: the circuit has excellent safety features, experienced marshals and a crowd that isn’t going to let a little bit of water spoil their day. It’s also a track that’s going to punish anyone who strays off-line but favour those that do the best job of judging risk against reward.
