Martinius Stenshorne

Driver, McLaren Driver Development

Martinius Stenshorne joined the McLaren Driver Development programme in May 2024.

Born into a Norwegian motorsport family, Martinius’ father Martin competed in the World Rally Championship. With racing in his blood, Martinius was given his first kart at just four years old and began racing competitively at age 10.

He started his racing career in karts, finishing second in the WSK Champions Cup in 2018, going on to win the WSK Master Series and Italian Championship, before making a transition to single-seaters in 2022.

In 2022, Norwegian raced for R-ace GP and Van Amersfoort Racing in Formula 4 across the UAE, German and Italian series, securing three podiums, before moving up to Formula Regional in the Middle East and European championships in 2023.

Martinius won on his Formula Regional European Championship debut, making history as the first rookie to do so, while also achieving an additional podium and pole position on the same race weekend. It was his most successful season to date, with four further race wins crowning him vice-champion of the series.

In 2024, he stepped up into FIA Formula 3 with Hitech Pulse-Eight, winning the Sprint in Australia.

In May 2024, Martinius was announced as part of the McLaren Driver Development programme, which sees him join the team’s talent pipeline towards Formula 1, IndyCar and Formula E.
