“I feel really proud of the entire team for all the hard work we’ve put in throughout what has been a long and difficult season.

“Naturally we are disappointed with our results on track. The season has been full of challenges and this final event has been frustrating with the unfortunate racing incidents we’ve suffered. However, we can still be pleased with how we carried ourselves throughout every event and we can confidently say we have never given up the fight.

“I’m confident we will regroup as a team in the off-season and build on our strengths and weaknesses to come back stronger in order to fight for the Championship.”

“It’s been a tough season and we’ve worked extremely hard to be up there all the time, but the entire grid has been super quick this year and that’s produced some intense racing which has caused some unfortunate situations on track.

“Overall, as a team, we have kept our heads high throughout every event with the challenges thrown our way. We can now go away with learnings and reset to look towards next season racing together again as one big family.”

“Event Three has been tough for the entire team with a lot of things not going our way. We struggled in our Qualifying sessions but despite the knocks, I think we can come away with some positives to end the season.

“The strong race pace we demonstrated showed our potential and it was pleasing to score my first points of the season in Qatar.

“I am grateful to the entire team for their support and hard work. We can now look forward to resetting in the off-season ahead of next year.”

Joel Chapman, Team Manager, McLaren Racing, said:

“First and foremost, I am so proud of this entire team. This was a busy new format and the team has done a fantastic job of adjusting to the live environment.

“Unfortunately, this wasn’t our season, which hurts after the dual championship victories last year. Results don’t reflect the performance we know we had, but that’s the nature of racing, and it’s up to us to consistently put ourselves in the best places to score points.

“The spirit and attitude in this team is unmatched. We will regroup and take all the learnings of the previous year to come back stronger.

“Finally, I want to thank Lucas, Dani, Wilson, the engineers, and development drivers for their hard work and dedication. Also, all the fantastic McLaren fans for their support throughout our championship. Your incredible presence was felt throughout and is hugely appreciated and enjoyed by every member of this team.”
