2026 Arrow McLaren Portland International Raceway Race Report

Arrow McLaren made progress through the field on Sunday, with both Christian and Pato gaining positions from their starting spots to finish P9 and P11, respectively. Nolan rounded out the team's efforts with a P18 finish.

Christian wrapped up the Portland race as the Biggest Mover, gaining 16 positions via 16 on-track passes across the 110-lap battle.

With valuable championship points added to the tally, Arrow McLaren will continue their busy stretch of racing with the inaugural race on the streets of Markham, Ontario, this upcoming weekend.

Christian Lundgaard, Driver, No. 7 VELO Arrow McLaren Chevrolet

"It was a long day. We’ve definitely got to work out some balance issues between the two tire compounds. They’re quite far away from each other and difficult to predict. The Firestone Reds were what worked for us, but you see the front two having a primary tire race. I was nowhere close to being in that camp on the primaries, so obviously there’s something there that we’ve missed. We fortunately had decent race execution to gain the 16 positions from last to ninth, but it’s not where we should have been to start the race. We’ll return to street circuits the next two weeks and hopefully roll off with a better start."

Pato O'Ward, Driver, No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet

"A really difficult day. We had good strategy to get us some clean track there at the beginning to make up some positions. But it’s been a big struggle from Practice 1. We never managed to turn it around. It’s just one of those weekends where it really was trouble after trouble. I’m glad that we walked away with maybe not the best of results, but also not the worst of results all things considered. It was just a day that we had to cut our losses."

"Pretty rough weekend as a whole for the whole group. We’ll do better next time, and fortunately, we have another shot at it on track in Markham in just a few days."

"We didn’t deliver what we should have in Portland this weekend, and it was a tough one for the team all around, never finding the pace that we had here last year. Christian had a great charge from the back, but he shouldn’t have started there so a gain of 16 positions isn’t one we’ll celebrate, but great job to him for a good fight and strong strategy from his stand. The 5 car gained a few spots today as well, but Pato didn’t have the balance or the pace he needed to fight with the front. Nolan had some tough luck out on track to finish P18. It’s not the momentum we hoped for to begin this final stretch of the season, but we’re hungry for more and will work hard and forget fast before we head to Markham and a new street course next week."
