"So many hours and sacrifices have gone into making this moment a reality"

Lucas Blakeley has won the 2022 F1 Esports Pro Drivers' Championship with McLaren Shadow, McLaren Racing’s esports team.

Blakeley won the tight battle for the title, with key highlights from his season including four first place finishes, one additional podium and two pole positions.

Blakeley’s win seals a double victory for McLaren Shadow, winning both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships, having won the Constructors’ with two races to spare.

Lucas Blakeley said:

"I can’t really put into words how I’m feeling right now. It’s more than a dream come true to say that I’m the 2022 F1 Esports Pro Drivers’ Champion. So many hours and sacrifices have gone into making this moment a reality and to come away with the title just justifies it all.

“To win both titles in one season only makes this moment even better. I want to thank Bari, Wilson and the entire McLaren Shadow team as I couldn’t have done this without their support. It’s going to take some time for all of this to sink in.”

Lindsey Eckhouse, Director of Licensing and Digital Products, said:

“What an achievement for Lucas. It was such a tight battle for the Drivers’ Championship going into this final event and to win this alongside the Constructors’ Championship is a brilliant outcome and something we can be incredibly proud of.

“The team continues to go from strength to strength and Lucas' win is a testament to not only his hard work, but also the dedication of the entire McLaren Shadow team. My thanks also goes to our brilliant partners and to the fans who have supported us through it all.”
