If you were following along with our social channels in Mid-January, you may have noticed some behind-the-scenes sneak peaks at some of the content we’re cooking up for this year. Pato, Nolan and Christian spent the day as the stars of the screen, creating content that will soon reach the eyes of Arrow McLaren fans around the world. 

A portion of that day for Nolan was also spent on X, answering some of your questions during an “Ask Me Anything” session. While his answers are featured on our X feed for posterity, he took time to answer each question thoughtfully, and his inner dialogue didn’t make it into every post. 

So, let’s dive into the mind of Nolan Siegel and figure out how he answered some of the hard-hitting questions from the best fans in motorsport. 

How would you describe your experience in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES in three words? 

That’s a tough one. I’d say that it’s been life changing. It’s always been a dream of mine to be an INDYCAR driver, and having it happen with Arrow McLaren is pretty special.  

Second one would be challenging. It’s super competitive, possibly the most competitive race series in the world right now. It’s not easy to come in and win, but that’s certainly the goal.  

Last would be fast-paced. My time in INDYCAR has been quite chaotic. A lot happened in a short amount of time, so I think that’s a pretty fitting descriptor. 

What's your favorite road course on the INDYCAR circuit and why? 

My favorite road course is Road America. I think a lot of people would say that. It’s fast, fun to drive, lots of elevation change and it races really well. There are lots of long straights, too. Welike it when we can pass and make it an exciting race for fans, so it’s always exciting to go to Road America. 

If you were to run the X page for day, how many memes would you post? 

Well I’m in control now so we can find out, can’t we. What meme should I tweet? Got one. Now how do I add text? This is me making memes on the computer. The admins are disappointed in me for my lack of tech skills. Someone needs to teach me how to meme. 

What’s the best "Cars" movie? 

The original "Cars." It never got better than that. It kind of went off the rails in Cars 2. They strayed from the original too much, so OG Cars. 

What’s your go-to karaoke song? 

I’ve only done karaoke once and it wasn’t good. I was in Australia with my sister and some friends, andwe got after it singing. I probably have videos somewhere, though I don’t remember what we sang.  

What should I respond? “Tequila” maybe? Sure, let’s go with that. 

Sorry about these one-word answers. I’ve been told to be funnier. 

What country would you like to have an INDYCAR race in? 

I would love to go back to the Gold Coast or Japan – those would be incredible. If I had to pick one, I would say Australia. I think that street circuit would be a big hit with a huge fan base. We have some Australian superstars in the series, so that makes sense too.  

Do you ever wish you could listen to music while in the car? 

No, I’ve never wished I could listen to music in the car. Driving in INDYCAR is never boring. There’s a lot going on in the race car. Maybe when you’re sitting in pit lane, but on track, I’ve never been bored in the car. It’s just about the most exciting thing you could be doing. 

But, I get where you’re going with this. During practices, there is some waiting time where I could go for some music. We’ve done this in other series. You could do it when there’s a really long red flag or something, so that’s something to add.  

What’s your Hogwarts house? 

I haven’t done that survey, so I don’t know, but I would hope Gryffindor because everyone hopes they’re a Gryffindor. I don’t know if I can just say that though; I don’t think it’s my decision to make. I feel like you’re just born into your house, you can’t choose. As long as it’s not one of the two no one knows or cares about in Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. They’re just not important. No offense to any Hufflepuffs out there, but I’d be slightly offended. 

What’s your favorite movie? 

This is a hard question, there are so many to choose from. You know a movie I like that doesn’t get enough recognition? “Edge of Tomorrow.” Good movie, nobody talks about it, super entertaining. I watched it on a plane not too long ago. I highly recommend it.  

If you could see anyone live in concert, who would it be? 

I have not been to many concerts in my life, but I went to a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert, and it was Beck opening for them in San Francisco. It was awesome. I would see them again, I’m such a big fan. 

If you could choose any driver from history to be your teammate for one day, who would you choose? 

I’m going Jim Clark. He was successful on motorcycles and race cars, all different kinds of race cars. He was one of the most versatile drivers ever, and I find that incredibly inspirational. I think he would have a lot of good insight because he’s one of the best of all-time. 

What INDYCAR track do you think would make the best Mario Kart track? Or vice versa? 

Rainbow Road or Coconut Mall. It would be sweet to rip around the mall in an INDYCAR.  

Detroit would make a good Mario Kart track. Detroit is bumpy enough that it would make for good jumps in the game. 

What’s one thing you wish everyone knew about IndyCar? 

I wish everyone knew one how aggressive the racing is,he strength of the field and competition, and the variety of different tracks we race on. There’s always something new, different and exciting in INDYCAR. 

If you had a pet hamster, what would you name it? 

I think it’s funny when animals have the most normal human names, like Doug. I think it would be Doug. You could call him Dougie if you want to get spicy with it. 

If you were to design a livery yourself, what would you do? 

I’m not an artist; I think the cars look pretty good right now. I think everyone is going to like ours in 2025. But you know what I’d do? I’d do the ME car, the cougar, from "Talladega Nights." I don’t think anyone’s done that. Does Talladega have two l’s? I guess so! 

What’s your dream vacation destination? 

I’m a big beach guy. I also like doing active things. So, I’m going with Hawaii because you can do both. You can go explore for a bit, then hang out on the beach. 

Do you play Minecraft? This is very important. 

I feel like people will make fun of me if I say yes. But I don’t. Nothing against it, I think it’s a great game, but I don’t play many video games. 

I think the issue is that I was so bad at video games growing up, I was so much worse than all my friends that I’d lose, and I don’t like to lose. I like winning. I know it’s not a competitive game, but still.  

What’s a fun fact that most fans don’t know about you? 

I hadn’t juggled in a long time, but I can juggle. I’ve been practicing all morning just for Pato to swat the balls away with a stuffed llama.  

What’s the funniest thing the social media team has made you do? 

One of the funniest things they’ve made me do was throwing the fruit snacks to Pato and Alexander Rossi at Gateway because I know how much they didn’t like it. But there’s some stuff from production day that you’re going to want to sit down and enjoy. You’re going to love it. The behind-the-scenes stuff will be great. 

If you could pick to race in any other motorsport series, what would you choose? 

I would like to try Australian V8 Supercars. It looks awesome and super aggressive with cool cars and tracks.
