Accelerating Women's Equality in Motorsports

"At Arrow McLaren, women are paving the path forward on and off the track"

If you go to an NTT INDYCAR SERIES race, it doesn’t take long to see that the motorsports fanbase is significantly more diverse than it was just a couple decades ago. The series has historically been a sport whose fanbase is overwhelmingly male, but a visit to a race like the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg revealed that the crowd is much more than that. Fans of all ages, races and genders were represented in the stands, and that shift is also becoming gradually more apparent among INDYCAR teams.

At Arrow McLaren, women are paving the path forward on and off the track. From innovative thinking in strategy and engineering to creative ways to engage our fans, the women of Arrow McLaren are pushing boundaries and creating space in motorsports for the next wave of women. In celebration of International Women’s Day, below are a just a few examples of the many ways that our women are driving progress and gender equality.

Lizzie Todd
Systems Engineer

On Friday, February 28, Systems Engineer Lizzie took part in Arrow McLaren’s Women in Sports panel, where women from across the industry spoke on topics like women’s equality in sports, battling male-dominated viewpoints, and empowering and inspiring the next generation of women to pursue careers in sport. Lizzie specifically touched on her experiences around the NTT INDYCAR SERIES paddock, and how she felt seen when she joined Arrow McLaren because, for the first time in her career, her team kit was designed for women, not for men.

In February, Lindsay took part in a live Q&A on McLaren Racing’s Discord channel, where she answered questions from predominantly female fans about how journey into motorsports. She gave valuable insight to hundreds of women who aspire of someday following her path into racing.

Kate Gundlach
Race Engineer

Kate is in rare air in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES as she is one of the only women ever to be a Race Engineer in this series. She takes on the new role in 2025 for Nolan Siegel and the No. 6 NTT DATA Arrow McLaren Chevrolet after working as the Performance engineer on the No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet the previous five seasons. Kate is a trailblazer in this space and routinely pays it forward, especially at the track, where she’s always willing to speak to groups of young women about her path into racing.
