Cleo Abram to join the NEOM McLAREN Formula E Team for Formula E ‘Evo Sessions’
"This experience is about more than just speed. It’s about showing what’s possible and inspiring the next wave of innovation"

The NEOM McLaren Formula E Team today confirms that Cleo Abram will make a one-off appearance as a guest driver in the team’s GEN3 Evo car, for Formula E’s ‘Evo Sessions’.
The unique experience known as ‘Formula E Evo Sessions’ will see 11 drivers take to the track on 5-6 March at the Miami International Autodrome. Eleven well-known personalities from actors to athletes and content creators will be paired with a Formula E team and driver and put through a testing programme. This will consist of simulator sessions, driver coaching, hardware customisation and engineering briefings.
Cleo Abram is the video journalist behind Huge If True, an optimistic show about science and technology. Huge If True is an antidote to the doom and gloom, helping 8+ million subscribers across platforms see better futures they can help build.
In each episode, Cleo dives into one innovation that could shape the future. She has explored humanoid robots at Boston Dynamics, supersonic planes at NASA, the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, and many more. For her interview series, Huge Conversations, she has interviewed Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. Previously, Cleo was a producer at Vox and director for Explained on Netflix.
Coached by NEOM McLaren Formula E Team driver Sam Bird, Cleo will receive the best training and support possible ahead of the event, including time in the team’s simulator. The training programme will not only prepare Cleo for the experience but also provide an in-depth insight into what it takes to prepare, train, and drive like a professional racing driver.
Cleo’s journey from simulator to cockpit will be documented along the way via our social media channels, as well as Formula E’s official accounts and Cleo’s own platforms.
An official Formula E feature-length documentary will then take fans further behind the scenes later in 2025.
Cleo Abram, said:
“This is a rare chance to go beyond reporting on technology – I get to live it. Formula E is leading the charge in electric racing, and stepping into the driver’s seat is the best way to understand it from the inside out. I’m here to learn from Sam and the team, to push my own limits, and to bring people along for the ride in a way that makes this technology feel real. At Huge If True, I explore science and technology in an optimistic way because when people see better futures, they help build them. This experience is about more than just speed. It’s about showing what’s possible and inspiring the next wave of innovation.”
Ian James, Team Principal, NEOM McLaren Formula E Team & Managing Director, NEOM McLaren Electric Racing, said:
“I’m very pleased to welcome Cleo to the team! Ensuring Cleo will be up to speed with the intricacies of the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team’s GEN3 Evo is going to be a huge task. The project is super ambitious, to say the least. Having said that, Sam and the rest of the team are excited to get started, and will bring their passion, knowledge and experience to the table throughout her training programme – ensuring she’s ready to hit the ground running in Miami.”
