"We're off to a good start and just need to keep making it better"

The NTT INDYCAR SERIES turned their first laps around the brand new 2.73-mile circuit on the Streets of Arlington on Friday.
For the drivers, Practice 1 was spent learning the 14 turns, the surprising elevation changes and tricky bumps around the course that has quickly become a paddock favorite. Pato finished P4 in the opening session, while Christian was P8 and Nolan was P20.
With Qualifying on the horizon, Arrow McLaren will aim to fine-tune Day One learnings and push the pace Saturday.

"What a cool circuit. I really, really enjoyed that. This is the kind of place that the NTT INDYCAR SERIES needs to be racing at street course-wise. It's a big track with room for all our cars. It does get a little bumpy out there, but it is a lot of fun to drive with all kinds of corners. It's been a real joy to get up to speed and see what we've got for this weekend. So far, I think we're off to a good start and just need to keep making it better. Comfortable is going to be the name of the game for Qualifying."

“The track layout is cool, and there are a lot of cool aspects of it. With that though, there's significant bottoming down the back straight, which makes it difficult to drive. As of right now, I don't see that being safe for the start of the race, so IndyCar may do some work on getting that fixed. Other than that, it's been fun being out there and figuring this new course out. There are some cars that seem extremely strong, but the driving will make the difference in Qualifying."

"It was really cool to get out there and turn laps on this new circuit. I’m excited for the fans and what this new experience can offer. With it being the first day, our focus was on getting up to speed and learning the finer details of this new track. We got more comfortable throughout the session but know we have some gains to make in Qualifying."
