THE AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX ACCORDING TO SOCIAL MEDIA

Aerodynamically efficient zoomies, fluorescent hairstyles and weekends on the road: Austria’s best tweets

Sourcing the tweets for this weekend’s social media review was somewhat more challenging than usual… But as the old adage goes, many hands make light work, and with the assistance of several accounts, a pinch of patience and a bucketload of willpower, we managed to *almost* compile our usual lot of puns, memes and messages of support from the almighty Papaya Army.

Given that many of you may have already surpassed your limit of daily tweets, this week’s feature could be worth its weight in gold, unlocking a whole host of posts you’d otherwise have never been allowed to see.

There was plenty to shout about this weekend as well, with Lando’s upgraded MCL60 proving pacey around the Red Bull Ring, enjoying two prolific qualifying sessions and a top four finish in the grand prix to boot. So without further ado, here’s what you made of it all...

There were some bold hair style choices being sported for Spielberg. Did you two co-ordinate? And if you didn't, we think you should...

And ahead of Austria of all places!  Shame on you, @Aimee_J_. We hope the punishment fitted the crime.

Important to get the aerodynamics spot on to achieve strong zoomies. McLarenDoggo will be flying once DRS is enabled.

Hmmm, we reckon it could do with a little less work.

Despite the very obvious downpour, Oscar turned up umbrella-less in a polo shirt. Thankfully, our team at track were there to save the day.

If there’s one thing we love more than qualifying on a Friday, it’s Sprint race Saturdays. And Lando continued his strong showing in Austria with P3 in the Sprint Shootout.

After a successful Sprint Shootout, the Sprint was tougher for Lando, who suffered from an issue at the start of the race and finished ninth, one place shy of the points. Oscar, meanwhile, charged from 17th to 11th.

After initially losing a couple of spots at the start, Lando found form in the Austrian Grand Prix and was flying. There were several eye-catching overtakes from the British star, the pick of which saw him squeeze past Hamilton for fourth.

A stellar performance was capped off with fifth at the flag for Lando, before he was promoted to fourth due to a bunch of post-race penalties. His performance clearly caught the eye of the fans as he earned himself F1’s “Salesforce Driver of the Day” award.

It was a tougher day for Oscar, who suffered front-wing damage that left him needing repairs. After the subsequent pit-stop dropped him down the order, he finished 17th at the flag before being promoted to 16th after the race.

Andrea and the team were getting all of the love in Austria. And too right, they worked tirelessly at the McLaren Technology Centre to get Lando's upgrade package delivered ahead of time, with Oscar's set to follow at the British Grand Prix.
