Arrow McLAREN 109th Indianapolis 500 Day 4 Practice Report

"We’re feeling confident going into tomorrow"

The last practice ahead of Qualifying provided both speed and heat, with temperatures on track eclipsing 120 degreees Fahrenheit in the middle of the session. Combined with strong winds, the conditions at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first few hours of Fast Friday created a unique practice environment.

Arrow McLaren didn't turn a ton of laps throughout the day because of those conditions, but the drivers all left Fast Friday comfortable with their respective setups heading into the weekend.

Pato, Nolan, Christian and Kyle return the track again tomorrow morning for a Practice session before Qualifying for the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500, which begins at 11:00 a.m. EDT on FS1.

“Obviously, it was a positive to end the day on a high note. We were biding our time and making sure that we were in the right window. We evaluated everything and made sure we were all happy. Went back out at the end and was much happier. We’re familiar with what the car is doing, and turned some good laps in. There’s always a bit of luck of the draw with the qualifying order, but we’re feeling confident going into tomorrow."

Kyle Larson

Pato O'Ward, Driver, No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet

Practice 230.441 mph 23rd
Total Laps 6

"Short day for us today. The conditions are so different than what it's going to be like for Qualifying. We just wanted to check on all the little details that we need to make sure we get right, and we'll be ready to go out tomorrow."

Nolan Siegel

Practice 229.095 mph 31st
Total Laps 12

“It didn’t go where we wanted it to go from a weather perspective. The track conditions were really bad for most of the day so we had decided to sit it out. It wouldn’t correlate to tomorrow, but we got the car to a happy window and got a four-lap run at the end. We know what we have tomorrow, and we didn’t waste too much time knowing what the conditions were today. We think we’ll be fast for the conditions tomorrow, and that’s when it matters."

Practice 214.223 mph 33rd

“Thankfully the crash wasn't too bad. It's just a bummer to spin and hurt the car again, but I think we'll be fine. We wanted to come back out, make sure we were up to speed and see that the car was fine, and thankfully it was. We’re hoping for a better day tomorrow.”
