THE TEAM BOSSES

United by a desire to win

The team bosses Sponsor

A team boss has an easy life, right? Wrong. Keeping a driver motivated when he has an uncompetitive car is the hardest job of them all. Some team bosses in McLaren’s history are more tolerant than others.

Teddy Mayer once likened racing drivers to lightbulbs, famously saying: “You unplug one, and plug in another.” Despite their different personalities the overriding characteristic that united Mayer, Whitmarsh and Seidl was a desire to win.

They’d all agree with Ron’s famous quote: “The Monday morning after a race our cars haven’t won is pain.”
