That was the weekend that was

The Qatar Grand Prix according to social media

Four points. That’s all we have to show for the tireless efforts of everyone in the team after a gruelling, transcontinental triple-header. Luck just hasn’t been on our side over the past few weeks and that was all but confirmed at the Qatar Grand Prix; a top-five finish for Lando Norris was cruelly ripped from our grasp by a late puncture, and Daniel Ricciardo’s fightback was thwarted, as he was forced to save an unusually high amount of fuel. It was an outcome made all the more galling by the fact that, at the Losail International Circuit, we had a faster car than Ferrari, our chief rival in the Constructors’ Championship.

Nevertheless, we’ll dust ourselves down and give it everything we’ve got at the last two grands prix of the season. But, in the meantime, here’s what social media made of our weekend in Qatar…

Before the track action got underway there was just enough time for our ‘weekly silhouette’:

And a round of golf…

Wait, was that Lando or Spider-Man?

Looks like Daniel could have used the help of Spidey to fend off Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto, aka Doctor Bin-otto Octavius.

We reckon he was after Daniel’s new lid:

Totally...

Qualifying proved to be a mixed bag: Daniel was knocked out in Q2 (not physically by Mattia Binotto, we might add), while Lando made it into Q3 and wound up P6.

Things got even better for Lando: after grid penalties were applied, he was up to P4.

Sunday’s race marked a significant milestone for the team:

Gotta catch ‘em all, @Roy_Renneberg:

Understandably, @alasdairmulhern was struggling to decide which cap to wear on such a momentous occasion:

There was an altogether different clothing issue at the track, as the newest addition to the team misplaced their kit bag...

David Beckham wasn’t the only football legend at the Losail International Circuit. Andrea – Pirlo, not Stella – was on the grid:

Unfortunately, even Becks in the garage couldn’t bend our fortunes around. Daniel had to save fuel early on in the race due to erroneous fuel readings from the car, which thwarted his progress through the field:

While Lando looked set for a top-five finish, only for a puncture to force him into making an unscheduled pit-stop in the closing stages, dropping him down to ninth place.

Still, after 105 races, it was nice to see an old friend back on the podium.

We sure will, boss…

And, on the bright side, the search is over! At the weekend, we finally found our ‘biggest’ fan:

No, not this guy…

This beauty...

Turns out the Moon was made of papaya, not cheese, all along.
