He welled up on the pitwall when Kimi won his first GP in Malaysia in 2003 and team boss Ron Dennis was in tears again when the Finn triumphed in Suzuka 2005, passing Fisichella on the final lap of the race.

On the podium, the monosyllabic Räikkönen was typically impassive with emotion, but Ron jumped a little jig shortly before he was presented with the constructors’ trophy by Koichi Murakami, president of Fuji TV and later he described Kimi’s win as “the greatest of his career”.
