The Mexico City Grand Prix according to social media
Happy Halloween, McLaren fans! Whilst you were filling up our feed with your terrifying fancy dress efforts and carefully-carved McLaren-themed pumpkins, we were celebrating the spooky season with a series of scarily quick overtakes and a frighteningly fast pit-stop.
Two top 10 finishes, a Driver of the Day award for Daniel and the fastest pit-stop of the season so far meant that Halloween wasn't the only thing we were celebrating this weekend.
There might not have been a horse in the paddock like there was at the US Grand Prix, but there was a giant cardboard cut-out of Lando Norris' head that gave us quite the shock. Anyway, enough from us, here’s what you made of our weekend on social media…
We began the weekend with some good old-fashioned dad jokes.
@MewesKeith managed to kick-start a World Cup of McLaren merch. Some impressive efforts in there! It would be a close contest, but we reckon @MewesKeith gets through to the final versus @FormulaAimee.
Spooky season is upon us, and as always, you all stepped up to the plate with your creativity, producing graphics…
Pumpkins…
And costumes…
We discovered a wild Lando Norris in his natural habitat.
Surely this has to be a good omen. Even the sky supports McLaren!
Does anyone require a giant Lando Norris head? No? Just us, then…
Both impressive and terrifying, @KatiaCastilloT. At least we know who is responsible.
A slightly less frightening attempt from @xavygarza.
Buenas dias, amigo! It was great to see Pato's familiar face at the Mexico City Grand Prix.
Time to fuel up before final practice…Those Look mighty tasty!
As much as we love the look of @nicolaw7's tasty-looking treats, these Mexican-inspired snacks feel much more appropriate.
Now we're fuelled, let's head out for some on-track action.
We certainly think so.
Thanks for advertising the McLaren App for us, @Jameshify.
Quali time, let's get it!
Lando managed to blast into Q3, but Daniel missed out by the finest of margins, with only 0.5s separating him from a spot in the top 10.
Great to see so many of you turn up in your finest papaya.
It wasn't only aa the track, with support from all over the world.
You're cutting it a bit close, @AndyRobinson100!
Phew! We're relieved that story had a happy ending.
It was a tricky start as Lando and Daniel lost places off the line, but better times were ahead, we could feel it.
The Honey Badger was on fire! He launched past Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon and moved into P7.
But he'd still need to build up a 10s gap to avoid dropping back down the order. It was to be a tense end to the race.
But we all know how this ends, right?
Lando's late lunge on Valtteri Bottas earned him P9 and the team two top 10 finishes.
Helping Daniel along the way was a staggeringly quick 1.98s pit-stop from the crew. Yep, you read that right, 1.98s – the fastest of the season so far.
Think we've earned a rest after that. We'll recuperate on our return to the UK, before diving into the data back at the McLaren Technology Centre. Two rounds to go, one massive last push. As always, thank you for sticking with us, we're in this together, team.
