The Bruce McLaren legend will never fade – and its lustre was given a loving polish at the fabulous Goodwood Revival meeting, held at the Goodwood Circuit between September 11-13, 2015.

The event included a parade of historic McLarens, led by no less than Sir Jackie Stewart OBE, the triple champion getting behind the wheel of the red-liveried 1967 BRM-engined M5A Formula 1 car.

At the other end of the spectrum was the team’s original battleship grey Austin Mini van – Tyler Alexander’s ‘company car’, and the vehicle used to test pylon wings around the streets of south west London during the early days of aerodynamic exploration!

Another star of show was an immaculately restored M6GT road car – OBH 500H, the original chassis owned and driven by Bruce himself – which was driven during the weekend by Bruce’s daughter Amanda. 

The event included an illustrious list of attendees, former McLaren mechanic turned F1 and sportscar racer Howden Ganley was on hand, as were veteran designers Robin Herd and Gordon Coppuck. Herd designed and engineered some of the team’s earliest racing cars, while Coppuck designed the legendary M23 chassis.

Also present was former team manager Alastair Caldwell, who helped lead both Emerson Fittipaldi and James Hunt to grand prix world titles, and Jo Ramirez, team co-ordinator and close confidant of Ayrton Senna throughout his McLaren-Honda days.
