The 1976 Japanese Grand Prix
An iconic race

As two mechanics packed up their tools in the Fuji pitlane, the 1976 championship was captured in a conversation between the two of them and reported in The Autocar.
“After a finish like that and the season we’ve had, I’m going home to write it as a film script and make a million,” said one to the other. “Only trouble is, I don’t suppose anyone could believe it could all happen.” Thirty-seven years later Rush was made and the epic tale of McLaren’s James Hunt beating Niki Lauda finally came to the silver screen.
