We were very excited to welcome Emily Jones into the McLaren Shadow team this week. A prolific streamer and content creator, Emily is the first-ever female Gran Turismo World Tour finalist and, like McLaren F1 driver and fellow Aussie Daniel Ricciardo, she’s a fierce competitor. Emily is set to compete in a range of series this year, from iRacing to Gran Turismo, and here’s your chance to learn a little more about her…

1. How does it feel to be a member of McLaren Shadow?

It feels surreal! Pretty crazy to imagine myself as part of an F1 team. I can't believe it. I’m excited to get started and race in the new colours!

2. How long have you been streaming for?

About four years.

3. How do you train for competition?

Lots of practice laps, analysing my technique, benchmarking with teammates. Putting in the hours and trusting in the process always seems to help.

4. Biggest rival?

On Gran Tursimo, Cody Nikola Latkovski. On iRacing, Jake Burton.

5. Best moment of racing esports career to date?

FIA GTC Nations regional finals in the X2019, Virtual Le Mans, TTR Macau Grand Prix.

6. What’s at the top of your esports bucket list?

Making a Nations World Final in the FIA Gran Turismo World Champs.

7. When you’re not racing or streaming what do you like to do?

I love travel! Otherwise, in the covid times, I really enjoy cooking, listening to music and going out dancing when we're allowed!

8. What other genres of game do you like?

I enjoy all kinds of games. I spend a lot of time playing Overwatch, Counter-Strike:Global Offensive and League of Legends.

9. What was the first game you ever played and on what platform?

I remember playing Wacky Wheels on PC! After that, probably Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit.

10. What’s the last game you played?

At the moment, I'm finishing Persona 5: Royal.

11. You’re stuck on island, what game and console are you taking with you?

PS2 and the original SSX!

12. Have you ever rage-quit and, if so, what was the reason?

Yes! I was trying to qualify for the iRacing Rallycross World Champs. Practiced like crazy for a week and then got taken out in the first corner of my heat and rolled before Turn One of the LCQ. Turned my PC off at the wall immediately.

13. What’s the funniest or craziest thing you’ve ever seen when gaming?

I've been involved in a few V8 Supercar wrecks on iRacing that have involved 30-plus cars at once. Seeing a whole field getting wiped out at the same time is crazy but hilarious.

14. Favourite film?

Your Name (Kimi no Na wa).

15. Favourite song?

The Perfect Life Does Not Exist by Ball Park Music.

16. Favourite racing driver?

Daniel Ricciardo!

17. Favourite track?

I love Albert Park, otherwise Bathurst.

20. What’s the one piece of advice you would give to aspiring esports racers?

Have fun and put in the hours! Surround yourself with drivers faster than you and constantly push to meet them. Trust in the work you put in and constantly work on improving everything.
