Day 6: Indy 500 Practice Report A thrilling dress rehearsal to Sunday's Indy 500

Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Monday 22 May

A total of 2,705 laps were completed by the 33 entries in the session that featured large groups of cars running together in full race trim, dicing and passing all around the circuit. It was the busiest practice day this year, even though the track was open for only 3.5 hours compared to the six hours available on practice days last week.

“Today’s practice was ok - we went back to the normal set up from last Thursday and got some good laps in meaning we were able to maximise the track time.

“We tried many things during the session – we now have to take the positives and put everything together and try to be ready for Sunday.

“Two weeks ago I knew nothing about Indy, about oval racing so to be fighting for pole and the first row of the grid yesterday was a very happy surprise.”
