Cristina

“I’m really excited to go racing with the NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team. I can’t wait to start working with everyone and represent the team and the iconic papaya colour. The races in Saudi Arabia in previous seasons have been very different, and this year will be too with the new track in Jeddah. I hope we can get the season off to a good start with some points. Bring it on!"

Mattias

“I’m very excited to go to Saudi Arabia with the NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team and kick off the new season alongside my new team and teammate. Saudi Arabia is becoming a regular destination for me, having spent time here during the Dakar Rally, so it’s great to be back. I’m looking forward to seeing how the rest of the grid shapes up, there’s going to be some good competition so I’m excited to go racing this weekend.”

Gary

“For the first two rounds of the 2024 season, we’ll be heading to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. It’s the first time this course features on the Extreme E calendar, so all teams will be on a level playing field.

“It’s no secret we had a challenging season last year, and the team have worked hard over the off season. We come into this year with a competitive new driver line up in Cristina and Mattias. We’re prepared to hit the ground running when we arrive in Jeddah.

“This will be the first race for Cristina and Mattias as NEOM McLaren Extreme E drivers. Both drivers bring in-depth knowledge and proven track records in Extreme E so we’re excited to get racing and see what we can do.”

Driver line-up

Ahead of Season 4, the NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team announced its new driver line-up. The new pairing will see Cristina Gutiérrez and Mattias Ekström join the team for its third season in Extreme E.

Cristina has competed in Extreme E since its inaugural season and has a proven track record of success. Claiming one championship win, four wins and 10 podiums over the course of the last three seasons, she has shown her skill and determination for victory in Extreme E.

Mattias began his journey in Extreme E in its inaugural season. He returned to the series in 2023, and over the course of his Extreme E career has collected two wins and six podiums, finishing runner-up in 2023.
