Stories from ours fans around the world about their F1-crazy dads

What better way to spoil your dad than with some McLaren goodies?

In the lead up to Father’s Day in the UK, we asked our fans on Twitter to tell us a little bit about themselves and their dads for a chance to win a bundle.

So who has an F1-crazy dad, who’s obsession with the sport has passed down through generations? Find out more about our fan’s families below.

@Chrismc1977

My dad took me to my first British GP aged 9 in 1986 as a huge McLaren fan & hooked me for life. He sadly passed away in 2013, but I’ve now passed the bug onto my own son!

@Gemmalouhay

My dad has followed F1 from a young age, he never fails to watch every race weekend (especially his favourite in Monaco which lies on/around his birthday). Because of him I’ve watched F1 most of my life, and my love for F1 is all because of him and I have him to thank! Ly Dad.

@McLarenCollectr

Sharing moments like this with him. He also came to Silverstone the first time I took my two sons. #MakingMemories

Been to Silverstone with my dad every year since I was 8 and now I’m 29. We’re into our 3rd generation of @McLarenF1 fans. We have the McLaren supporters banner signed by loads of drivers. Been to MTC twice and we also have Jenson's hat from the race in Texas. #MakingMemories #f1

I have attended the @F1GPCanada since 1988, always with my brother but tragically in 2012 he passed away! To honour him, I have taken my dad to continue our family tradition as I could not give up my brother’s seat. #McLarenFan

@IkkinMaharg

We’ve watched #F1 together since I was a kid. You can certainly call our relationship special: he’s a German Ferrari fan and I’m a British McLaren fan! (managed to get him in my bf’s McLaren hat for one of the photos @ the #SpanishGP though). He lives in Woking too!

My dad put me in front of the TV for the 1998 Australian GP, when I was just 3 DAYS old - 21 and a bit years later, we sat down to watch the Canadian GP together. If anything, I owe my love of @F1 to him. I know he wants to go to Abu Dhabi, so maybe one day I can treat him.

Best memories are when me and my dad stay up for hours after qualifying watching coverage of classic races. Lewis's first win in Monaco will always be a classic and a go to race for me and my dad.

Here is my entry that my beautiful daughter Evie has made for me. Soon as I told her about the competition she got straight on with her poster. #prouddad #McLaren #FearlesslyForward #CARLO55AINZ #L4NDO #FathersDay

Me and dad have bonded over Formula 1 and McLaren since I can remember. Taking me to races every year, like Bahrain in 2018 and China 2019! I hope you can help me give something back to him, from the team he’s loved since he was my age! :) Thank you!

@Gonzacapozio

Story tells that my dad tuned Ayrton's races while I was in my mother's belly, and I started kicking when the camera got him onboard. This translated into an almost religious habit of watching every F1 race supporting McLaren. We keep doing this until this day!
