Arrow McLAREN Indy Toronto Grand Prix: Race Report
"Not what we'd hope for on the streets of Toronto"

The Toronto weekend was no easy feat for the Arrow McLaren team.Â
After an injury caused Alexander Rossi to miss the remainder of the race weekend, Théo Pourchaire was flown in to replace the open No. 7 Ryde Arrow McLaren Chevrolet seat for race day.Â
Théo secured the team’s best finish of the weekend after a multi-car crash with 13 laps to go resulted in the No. 5 and No. 6 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet retiring.Â
Before the Pato O'Ward and the No. 5 spun near the final laps, getting caught in the incident; O'Ward had made his way from P14 to P6.Â
Nolan Siegel was running a steady race before a late yellow flag caused him to get caught in the multi-car incident. Siegel and O'Ward were both cleared and released from INDYCAR medical.
After the checkered flag, see what the drivers and Team Principal Gavin Ward said before we head to our summer break.Â

"It was a very tough and challenging race for me. I think we did an amazing job with the No. 7 Ryde Arrow McLaren Chevrolet crew. The car was amazing, and the team did their best. I did my best, as well. With the end of the race now, I probably arrived 26 hours ago. I didn't know the track, and I haven't raced in about five weeks. It's an amazing job to go from P26 to P14 and avoid major incidents. I made one small mistake during the race that cost us perhaps a top-10 finish. I am just proud of myself and the team. We showed great pace, and I am so proud and happy that I was able to race again."

"I am so surprised that they did not call a yellow, as you are just calling for a massive shunt. There was a solid five seconds of waiting before telling everyone what was coming. I am glad that everybody that was involved in it is okay. I am sorry for the team. We were having a better race than what we have had all weekend. It's just a shame for the No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet crew."Â

"Not what we'd hope for on the streets of Toronto. I think we had made a little bit of progress, and the last stint was actually quite good on new Firestone Greens at the end. I think that we would have been alright to pick off a few more guys, but there was nowhere to go. I'm disappointed that both cars ended up destroyed. That's not where we wanted to be. We'll forget about it and move on to the next race."
Gavin Ward, Team Principal, Arrow McLaren, said:
"I'm just glad we don't have anymore injured drivers at the end of the day. I think INDYCAR needs to take a deep dive into the delay in going yellow. That incident started off with Pato having a spin, and not going to a full-course yellow until there's a car in the catch fence, and we've totally crashed two good race cars. It's just not good enough. Thanks to Théo for jumping in a very difficult circumstance and keeping his nose clean."
