Hear from Grégoire Saucy and Ugo Ugochukwu after driving in the Berlin Rookie Test today.

With testing outside of race weekends limited in Formula E, the Berlin Rookie Test gave the team a great opportunity to dictate a programme focused on some performance settings on the car, as well as setup for improved tyre usage. 

The day also served as a good opportunity to focus on improvement of the team’s simulator, by giving our rookie drivers the experience of a ‘real-life’ Formula E car on a ‘real-life’ track. Their input is invaluable to help the team optimise its simulator, getting it as close as possible to real-life circumstances.  

After a very long double-header, the car crews did a great job turning around the set-up of the cars for Grégoire and Ugo, ensuring both cars were ready to go out on green at the start of the session today.

“Today was my first experience in a Formula E car. I really enjoyed it and want to thank the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team for the opportunity to get behind the wheel. I enjoyed getting to know the car. I became more comfortable lap by lap during the day, and I really enjoyed working with all of the team and making progress with them. There is a great atmosphere in the team, and it was a pleasure to test in Berlin today.”

“I had a great experience today, driving a Formula E car for the first time, with the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team here in Berlin. I learnt a lot and we went through our programme well, without any issues. Overall, it was a good day. I was able to improve on my side throughout the day, learning from the people around me. I’ve taken a lot of learnings from today that I’ll use in future.”
