The Spanish Grand Prix according to social

Slogans, secrets and silverware: The best of social from Barcelona

Another race, another shiny new trophy (and a Pirelli Pole Position Award) to add to our silverware stash at the McLaren Technology Centre. But more importantly, plenty of points, as Lando and Oscar’s haul helped us to retain third in the Constructors’ Championship.

Once again, we took the fight to Max Verstappen in Spain as Lando narrowly missed out on victory to the Red Bull driver. He did, however, secure his sixth podium of the season – our sixth in a row and seventh overall – which promoted the British racer to a rather remarkable second in the Drivers’ Championship.

All of that certainly gave you a lot to talk about on social media. We’ve rounded up the best of your posts on X and used them to tell the story of the race.

Here’s what social media made of the Spanish Grand Prix…

Never let them know your next move. 😏

It’s our favourite sight in the whole wide world. 🤩

Why can’t they be both?

Looking great, feeling great.

Wow. 😮 What a sensational lap from Lando to score our first pole positon since Russia in 2021!

Another Q3 appearance from Oscar and we just knew that he was going to make gains from there in the race.

Perfect timing! Maybe you're a lucky charm, @4norrisL.

Ssshh. Keep it to yourself, okay?

Landomination, we like it, @Nathanings, it’s got a real ring to it. Now we just need a slogan for Oscar.

Happy race day, team!

Never in doubt. Go get 'em Oscar.

Best in the business.

It was a tough start to the race, but we made it through the first lap unscathed, with plenty to race for.

See, we told you that they'd be making moves. 😉

*Creates multiple accounts*.

More silverware and another solid haul of points secured, meaning we retain our status as the only team to have scored in every race so far this season.

We did the research so you didn’t have to, @Fast_Furious90_. The last time a McLaren driver was second in the Drivers’ Championship was Kevin Magnussen after Round 1 of the 2014 season in Australia, more than a decade ago. 😮

And it wouldn’t have been possible without the entire team, whether at the track in Spain or back at the factory in Woking.

We keep pushing together as one. Yet another impressive, overtake-filled weekend from OP.

And another Salesforce Driver of the Day award in the bag for Lando.

How generous of you, @SimonGBrooks…

Did we hear you ask for an encore? Next stop: Spielberg.
