Paul Buddin

Paul Buddin became McLaren Group CFO in January 2018 having joined McLaren Automotive as Financial Controller in June 2010, quickly becoming Director of Finance and then Chief Financial Officer in January 2016.

In Automotive, he was a key part of driving the company’s growth by working across the business (including product development, manufacturing and sales and marketing teams) to deliver the ambitious growth plans.

While with the company, Paul was part of the senior team that saw revenues increase from zero to over £1bn in 2018.

Paul was an architect of both the Track22 and Track25 business plans which were the key plans that underpinned this growth.

Track25 runs through to 2025 and will see the company deliver 18 new cars or variants in this time from £1.2bn of investment. It also sees McLaren introducing and rolling out hybrid powertrains across the range.

As Group CFO, Paul has overseen the formation and restructuring of the Group’s capital structure as well as the construction of the new McLaren Group as it operates today.

He now has full financial responsibility for not only Automotive but also the Racing and Applied divisions.

He has lead the creation of a combined Group strategy that will not only see continued growth in Automotive, but the recovery of Racing both on track and financially alongside substantial growth in the Applied division.

Prior to joining McLaren, Paul had several roles within the accounting and advisory practice at KPMG. In these roles, he worked with a number of clients across a variety of industries. Paul also holds a Masters Degree in Physics from the University of Bath and spent time at CERN in Geneva working on the Large Hadron Collider. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
