McLaren Formula 1 supports local breast cancer fundraiser
Over the past three decades the McLaren Mercedes Graphics Department has created some of the most distinctive liveries in Formula 1. Last Saturday (May 12) it took on a new and unusual challenge: designing the bra worn by Hollyoaks actress Karen Hassan in the annual London MoonWalk charity event.
Every year over 15,000 people take up the challenge of walking either a marathon or half-marathon distance around London, overnight, while wearing an individually decorated bra. So far the organising charity, Walk the Walk, has raised over £74million to fund research into breast cancer and to improve care for cancer patients.
Our Graphics Department designed Karen Hassan’s bra around this year’s ‘rock and roll’ theme, and both Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton autographed it.
While the MoonWalk began and ended in Hyde Park and took in many of the iconic sights of London along its route, Walk the Walk is based in Woking, opposite one of the former McLaren International facilities on Albert Drive. We are delighted to support a local charity and to unite with Walk the Walk in the fight against breast cancer.
