GET TO KNOW THE McLAREN DNA DRIVER LINE-UP

Hungry for success and eager to learn

McLaren Applied Technologies is taking young driver development up a gear by giving karting’s rising stars the best possible start to their motor racing career with the McLaren DNA programme.

Developed in conjunction with the world’s best racing drivers, coaches and engineers, it draws upon our expertise in human performance and cutting-edge data acquisition techniques to quantify performance. In turn, we build bespoke development strategies that unlock driver potential and enable them to attain the skillset of an elite racing driver.

But who are these budding young racers and what do they hope to achieve on this trailblazing programme?

We caught up with the class of 2018/19 and McLaren Applied Technologies head of human performance Michael Collier to find the answers.

"The McLaren DNA team members of Alfie Rigby, Archie Walker, Dougie Bolger, Ollie Greenall, Oliver Gray, Oliver Bearman, Jack Plant, Mitchell Gibbons and Ollie Handley offer us an incredible opportunity to work with some of the brightest talent in British junior karting," explains Collier. "Our drivers will be racing in British, European and World Karting events during 2019.

"Over the course of the year the drivers will have access to the very best specialists in the areas of movement, nutrition, recovery, mindset and skill. They will be provided with support and guidance to help them grow as athletes and professionals in a highly competitive sport. The aim will be to continue our support for these drivers as they transition from karts to single-seaters and we look forward to seeing how they develop within the McLaren DNA programme."
