Matt Bishop is the Chief Communications Officer of McLaren Technology Group, in charge of all the team’s comms, PR and media operations. Matt also works strategically with McLaren Technology Group Executive Director Zak Brown, as well as with both Jonathan Neale and Eric Boullier, respectively the team's Chief Operating Officer and Racing Director.
A journalist for many years, before joining McLaren in January 2008 Matt had been Editor in Chief of F1 Racing magazine and Editorial Director of Haymarket Motorsport Group, which company then published F1 Racing. His larger than life personality and prolific writing, coupled with strong ties within the Formula 1 paddock, made him one of the best known and most powerful motorsport journalists in the world. Prior to joining Haymarket, Matt had been Features Editor of Car, then published by EMAP.
After enjoying a long career in journalism, Matt was invited to join McLaren as Group Head of Communications and Public Relations at the end of the 2007 Formula 1 season, and then worked closely with Lewis Hamilton throughout 2008 in Lewis’s successful effort to become world champion with McLaren that year. Having headed up the team’s comms, PR and media operations ever since, Matt has subsequently taken on more responsibility, becoming McLaren Technology Group’s Chief Communications Officer in March 2017.
