MTC People walking on the boulevard

The skills, experience and enthusiasm of the people within the McLaren Technology Group is the engine that drives our development. Since moving into the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) and launching the McLaren Production Centre, the Group has undergone a period of considerable expansion.

Crucial to this has been recruiting the best talents from industry and academia – but equally McLaren places a premium on developing talent internally and promoting from within.

Racing lies at the heart of McLaren’s activities and many staff from McLaren Racing have migrated to other disciplines within the Group, spreading the philosophy and working methodology honed by McLaren’s many years of competition at the pinnacle of motorsport. This forms the backbone of our operations, reinforced by a recruitment programme that strengthens our capabilities, adding skills from the outside world that compliment those for which the McLaren name is recognised.

The result is an unusually high degree of continuity between our different activities, ensuring that the skills at the disposal of McLaren Racing, McLaren Automotive and McLaren Applied Technologies are the best in the world.

McLaren encourages networking between its businesses and has a vibrant internal training and education regime designed to ensure everyone working for the Group has access to career development opportunities tailored to their needs.

Additionally, McLaren is at the forefront of developing the next generation of engineers, inspiring young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). “McLaren believes in the potential of science, engineering and technology to change the world for the better and to address the global challenges that we face,” says Ron Dennis, Chairman and CEO, McLaren Technology Group. “However, for that to become a reality, we need to encourage the brightest and best young people to pursue these disciplines and to maximise their educational potential.”

The Group runs a highly successful graduate trainee programme focussed on technical disciplines while also offering a number of graduate-level positions every year. We offer both year-long and summer paid internships in our engineering and design departments as part of a scheme that sees us reach out to a number of major universities. We also run a programme for apprentices and trainees in collaboration with local colleges, and are enthusiastic participants in a STEM Ambassadors programme, taking the science and technology of McLaren directly into schools and colleges.
