Sparco S.p.A was founded by two young Italian racing drivers from Turin in 1977 who wanted to make the world of competition racing a safer place to be.
Over 30 years later Sparco is recognised to be one of the market leaders in producing motorsport safety equipment and car accessories, supplying equipment to racers at every level of competition from club racing to World Championship competitons.
Today, still based with its Headquarters in Turin, Italy, Sparco now employs over 350 people spread over 3 continants around the world.
Sparco products are developed with the intention of raising technical performance thresholds with every new version, continually improving in the fields of safety, weight and strength and exploring new materials.
Sparco have been a supplier to McLaren since 1996, supply clothing not only for the drivers but also for the pit crew. In recent years Sparco have been actively working with the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes race team to further develop their products most particularly in respect of the fireproof race clothing for both Jenson and Sergio.
Working with the drivers to ensure that they are comfortable and yet striving to meet the demands of the engineers to constantly save weight, Sparco worked with the team and during 2010 the drivers overalls were reduced in weight by 600 grams and yet not comprimising safety and still meeting all of the strict FIA regulations in this respect.
