Sikkens has pioneered advances in paint and services, and has a passion for creating custom-made technical solutions, such as the high-chrome finish used on the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-28. In just four months, AkzoNobel Car Refinishes engineers worked with McLaren's Paintshop to create a high-tech system that has halved the time taken to paint and cure new bodywork, and reduced the Paintshop's carbon footprint by 80 per cent.
They have also found innovative ways to promote their products thanks to the partnership with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, using the 2009 MP4-24 to create a unique work of Formula 1 art.
