- 17 of these have been at the Circuit de Catalunya outside Barcelona; nine have been held at Jarama, five at Jerez, four at Montjuich and the first ever two Spanish Grand Prix were held at Pedrables.
- Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton became the youngest driver to lead an F1 World Champoinship in 2007 after securing his third consecutive second place of the season.
- With a neat slice of historical symmentry, Lewis, in becoming the youngest championship leader, succeeded team founder Bruce McLaren. Lewis was one month and two days younger than Bruce was when he won in the 1960 Argentine Grand Prix.
- McLaren has won the Spanish Grand Prix on eight occasions including four times with Mercedes-Benz as Engine Partner.
- Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-23 completed a total of 5,069km's of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya prior to the 2008 season starting.
- The race moved to the Circuit de Catalunya in 1991 and has been held there ever since.
